Harris Corporation Awarded Potential $23 Million Contract By NSA For SecNet 11 Plus Secure Wireless LAN Product

July 1, 2004

Melbourne, FL - Harris Corporation today announced that it has been awarded a five-year, potential $23 million Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract to supply its SecNet 11® Plus Secure Wireless Local Area Network (SWLAN) products to the National Security Agency (NSA). SecNet 11 Plus is the only NSA-certified PC card that delivers secure data, video and voice over IP (VoIP) at the secret level over a wireless network.

"This is a very important contract for Harris in that it expands the opportunities for SecNet 11 sales to U.S. domestic agencies and also opens the door to foreign military sales," said Russ Haney, president, National Programs business unit, Harris Government Communications Systems Division (GCSD). "We are very pleased that the NSA has selected SecNet 11 Plus to supply true Type 1, secure wireless communications for a wide range of tactical and enterprise applications."

Under the IDIQ contract with an initial $1.2 million order, Harris will supply SecNet 11 Plus PC Cards, Wireless Bridges and auxiliary equipment such as cables to U.S. government departments or agencies and their contractors, NATO, and foreign military customers with valid COMSEC accounts through the NSA.

The Harris SecNet 11 Plus PC Card is the only NSA-certified, 802.11b wireless Network Interface Card (NIC) employing Type 1 cryptography that is capable of delivering secure data, video, and VoIP at the secret level at a data rate of 11 Megabits-per-second (Mbps). Its Type-1 encryption capability secures the entire IEEE 802.11b packet, which provides secure communication of data and network header information (COMSEC and NETSEC) for all network layers.

By embedding Harris RF Communications Division's Sierra® Encryption Module into the SecNet 11 Plus PC Card, the need for costly, externally wired encryption equipment is completely eliminated and users have the ability to quickly assemble a network and maintain wireless communications-on-the-move, anywhere in the world.
