Alion Awarded $1M Contract For U. S. Navy Submarine Conversion Program

Mclean, VA - Alion Science and Technology, an employee-owned technology solutions company, recently announced it received a contract valued at $1M from Naval Sea Systems Command to provide professional support services for the SSGN Program Office, PMS398. These services will be provided to the Special Operations Forces, Systems Integration Team.

Under the award, Alion will provide an onsite technical expert to meet the requirements of SSGN Ship Certifications. Specifically, Alion will support the Submarine Safety Certification Reviews for all sea water systems to ensure they are designed and built to the correct specifications to allow the submarine to submerge safely. Additionally, support will be provided to the Deep Submergence Systems-Scope of Certification Program, which ensures that Special Operations Force systems are designed and built to correct specifications for safe diver operations.

"This award will allow Alion to draw on our expertise in ship building and safety management," said Vice Admiral Scott Fry, USN (ret), Alion Sector Senior Vice President and Manager of the Engineering and Integration Solutions Sector. "The work will ensure that sea systems are built to standard, ensuring the safety of the sailor."

Work will be completed on-site in Washington DC, Kings Bay, GA and Bremerton, WA.
