Siemens Offers New Cellular- and Internet-based Pump Station Monitoring and Control System

October 22, 2007

Warrendale, PA — Siemens Water Technologies introduces the new Link2Site cellular- and Internet-based monitoring and control system for the North American Market. It uses national cellular networks to remotely control, monitor and enhance pumping and lift station equipment and facilities. The system provides a reliable, low-cost, easy-to-install and fully functional SCADA solution.

Advanced pump station performance algorithms are standard and allow for pump station performance optimization. This allows users to monitor pump performance over time, helping predict pump station failure before it occurs. The system also offers multiple methods of volumetric flow calculation for the station or individual pumps to assist with performance analysis.

Users can securely connect to the system from anywhere with an Internet connection via user-entered passwords or electronic key-reader technology. A user-friendly operator interface accessed through a web browser provides much of the functionality of traditional solutions such as pump start and stop setpoint adjustment, remote "on/off" control, and alarm setpoint adjustment.

Siemens' Link2Site monitoring and control system includes a variety of flexible service plans to meet users' individual system needs. Through alarm monitoring, the system provides immediate alarm notification via email, pager, a phone call, or all three. Advanced callout scheduling functionality ensures that the appropriate person is called in the event of a system alarm. Alarms can be acknowledged either by phone or by computer. The system can also provide simple alarm monitoring, complete SCADA control, an easy-to-implement redundant communication network, or a simple way of communicating with remote sites.
