Case Study: Tax-Exempt Leasing Of A MEMCOR Package Plant For Colorado City
Problem
The Colorado City Metropolitan District need to quickly and efficiently expand their water treatment infrastructure to accommodate a growing population. Seeking to better serve residents and complete the project quickly, the city decided not to apply for funding through the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund as there would be a long delay due to the application and approval process and ultimately it would prove more costly.
Solution
Siemens offered a single solution. Siemens Water Technologies furnished its MEMCOR Products membrane system to provide reliable, high quality drinking water. Siemens Financial Services (SFS) provided the tax-exempt financing totaling $1.85 million. The treatment system, third-party engineering costs, and construction costs were all bundled into the Siemens financing package.
By using alternate financing and avoiding the state funding process, the city eliminated nearly one year from the project timeline.
