TechAmerica Applauds White House Meeting On Potential Of Technology In Government

TechAmerica recently applauded the President for convening the White House Forum on Modernizing Government, a meeting between tech-savvy leaders in industries across the economy and government deputy secretaries to discuss bringing the transformative power of technology realized in the private sector to federal departments and agencies.

"Today, the President is demonstrating the same appreciation for the power of technology that helped him win office," said TechAmerica President Phil Bond. "We expect a common theme emerging from the success stories highlighted today to be a need for agile partnerships between tech firms and their customers. If the government is to realize the benefits of innovation for efficiency and for solving the weighty challenges of this century, it must not wrap itself in more red tape. Departments and agencies need more flexibility to acquire the same expertise and solutions available to commercial companies, not less."

An agenda and a link to video feeds of the meeting's sessions are available on the Whitehouse Blog at http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog.
