U.S. Army Awards Multiple AIT-III Orders To Intermec For CK61G Mobile Computers And PM4i Printers

January 26, 2009

Intermec announced that the U.S. Army has selected its CK61G rugged mobile computers with PM4i barcode printers to globally automate the accountability process for the U.S. Army's Property Book Unit Supply Enhanced (PBUSE) system, the U.S. Army's Web-based property accountability and tracking system.

Based on this selection, multiple orders were awarded to Intermec for these products under the Automatic Identification Technology-III (AIT-III) contract.

"For over 20 years, Intermec has worked along side the US Army as a trusted advisor to help develop and deliver logistical support tools to our troops on the ground," said Patrick J. Byrne, president & CEO of Intermec. "We're proud to be able to help the Army meet their critical inventory needs and simplify their workload, both on the base and in the battlefield."

The deployment of automated information technology marks a dramatic shift in the way the Army conducts supply operations and moves inventory of both major items and components at the unit supply level. Army assets previously tracked on paper are now equipped with Intermec barcode labels, allowing efficient receiving and issuing of inventory with the CK61G. Rotating Army commanders tasked with tracking inventory every 18 months will benefit from increased accuracy and efficiency across the entire Army.

The Intermec CK61G mobile computer provides durable, next-generation processing technology, and all-day battery capacity for the toughest environments. The rugged design utilizes a magnesium top cover and tough rubber bumpers to achieve extremely rugged environmental specifications.

The Intermec PM4i printer delivers the rugged, reliable performance that the Army's operation demands, while also providing advanced capabilities such as secure wireless connectivity, support for multiple interfaces, Smart Printing and RFID readiness that can flexibly adapt to meet tomorrow's needs.
