The Total Economic Impact Of Intermec's CN50 Mobile Computer
In April 2010, Intermec commissioned Forrester Consulting to examine the total economic impact and potential return on investment (ROI) enterprises may realize by deploying Intermec’s CN50 mobile computer. The purpose of this study is to provide readers with a framework to evaluate the potential financial impact of the CN50 on their organization.
The CN50 is mobile computer with high-performance communication and computing in a small and lightweight ruggedized design that is optimized for highly mobile field workers.
This study illustrates the financial impact of deploying and using the CN50 within Aras Cargo, a large letter and package delivery company based in Turkey. The main objectives for this investment for the company were to automate steps in the manual and paper-based delivery process, reduce the amount of data errors, and increase customer satisfaction. The CN50 met all of Aras Cargo’s immediate requirements but also offers a broad range of future options. Furthermore, after having evaluated various mobile devices, the company found that the CN50 offers superior ergonomics and battery life. Our interview with this Intermec customer and subsequent financial analysis found that the interviewed organization experienced a three-year, risk-adjusted ROI of 185%, with costs and benefits shown in Table 1. This means that for every €1 invested, the company could expect €2.85 in return.
