U.S. Navy Awards IAP Aviation Contract With Potential Value Of $388M Over Five Years

Cape Canaveral, FL - IAP Worldwide Services, Inc. announced recently that it has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Navy to provide air traffic management and air traffic control and landing systems (ATCALS) maintenance services at air bases and stations in Southwest Asia. The contract was awarded competitively by the U.S. Navy Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWAR) in Charleston, S.C. to meet the mission requirements of the U.S. Department of Defense.

Awarded to IAP's wholly owned subsidiary Readiness Management Support (RMS), the contract is an extension and expansion of services already being provided by IAP-RMS and will be performed primarily in the headquarters U.S. Central Command Air Force (HQ USCENTAF) Area of Responsibility. The performance-based contract carries a value of $63M for its first year and a cumulative value of $388M if four one-year option periods are exercised.

"This is a most important contract award for IAP's Global Operations and Logistics business segment which continues to demonstrate its strength providing operations, maintenance, and logistical support services to clients throughout the world," said Dave Myers, Chairman and CEO of IAP. "IAP has an excellent track record of proven success in providing aviation services for the U.S. military."

IAP-RMS played a leading role in developing Afghanistan's air traffic control system to support Operation Enduring Freedom. The company earlier installed the Kabul Area Control Center, which provides modernized flight services within the Kabul Flight Information Region, and today provides aviation services across a wider region in Southwest Asia.

"IAP has extensive experience in providing a full range of aviation services and is proud to continue partnering with our client to provide these mission critical services," said Dwight Clark, Senior Vice President, Global Operations and Logistics. "This contract extends the strong relationships we have built with the U.S. Military to support airfields and air traffic control."

Under the contract, IAP will support air traffic control operations and ATCALS maintenance (O&M), airfield management, air-to-ground communications O&M, and aviation weather systems O&M at multiple locations in the U.S. Central Command.

IAP has built a team of key providers with Midwest Air Traffic Control Service Inc. providing the air traffic management functions and Lockheed Martin Information Systems providing the ATCALS equipment maintenance functions. Depending on the scope of additional work, two additional team members, AIR Inc. and Scientific Research Corporation (SRC), may be called upon to respectively perform Micro-ERTS (Earth Resources Technology Satellite) programming and meteorology.
