Department Of Defense Awards Northrop Grumman The Clinical And Health Data Repository Initiative Contract

Mclean, VA - Northrop Grumman Corporation has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Department of Defense to deploy, enhance and maintain the Clinical and Health Data Repository initiative to help the Defense Department and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) seamlessly share patient information.

The Clinical and Health Data Repository initiative provides real-time exchange of computable health data between the Defense Department's electronic health record system, AHLTA, and the VA's HealtheVet patient record system, VistA. Northrop Grumman's Information Technology (IT) sector developed enhancements to AHLTA for the Clinical and Health Data Repository project under a contract award in 2005. "As a leading provider of health information exchanges, Northrop Grumman is uniquely positioned to provide the Defense Department and VA with a secure and efficient solution to proficiently share data and provide the best medical care possible to United States military personnel and veterans," said Linda Mills, president of Northrop Grumman IT's Civilian Agencies group.

Under the terms of the contract, Northrop Grumman's IT sector will provide systems engineering and integration, information assurance and security, configuration management, technical support, and system enhancement and maintenance.

The contract is valued at $10.3 million over one base year with two one-year options. Work on the contract will be conducted in Chantilly, Va., South Jordan, Utah, and various Defense Department and VA medical facilities nationwide.
