CKM is a cryptographic key management and distribution process that provides role-based access control credentials and an authentication process based on standard public-key techniques. The first implementation was OOKEYMAN (ooh-key-man) in 1993. OOKEYMAN stands for Object-Oriented Key Management. Although, cryptographically, we have made great enhancements to CKM over the years, OOKEYMAN is still descriptive of our current technology and products.
CKM is integrated into ANSI Standard X9.69, "Framework for Key Management Extensions." The Department of Commerce, Bureau of Export Administration, has approved TECSEC's CKM products for export. Key lengths of 392-bit symmetric have been exported since CKM provides system administrators 100% key recovery.
