Digital Container is a high-end dual server that allows drawings to be scanned and viewed across multiple platforms for online, browser-based soft proofing. The server also facilitates multi-field indexing and archiving of scanned documents from various types of scanners.

The server comes configured with the ReproWEBTM operating system to meet needs of environments working in color graphics, such as corporate reproduction departments, service bureaus, advertising agencies, pre-press houses, copy and imaging shops, digital presses, and graphic and digital artists. This operating system allows work groups to access original files, using an ordinary, dial up Internet connection independent of bandwidth constraints on any PC, MAC, Unix, or Linux platform.

According to the manufacturer, documents can be quickly viewed from anywhere because there is no file downloading and no time lag due. Users can search and retrieve documents by content, date, drawing number, author, project name, revision date or other criteria as specified in set up. Multiple levels of control can allow for secure management of the type, frequency, number, or date of documents accessed. Users can view their work with software applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Quark Express, and IDEAL I/Color. In addition, remote MACs and PCs using the same software applications can not only access images, they can also modify or update their graphic projects.

The server's operating system uses native Windows NT authentication and security to provide protection against unauthorized access. With Windows 2000, security policies can be defined for the entire organization.
