ACS Awarded Arkansas Electronic Benefits Transfer Contract

DALLAS, May 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ACS (NYSE: ACS), a premier provider of business process and information technology outsourcing solutions, announced today it has been awarded a contract by the Arkansas Department of Human Services, Division of County Operations, to provide a full-service, high-performance electronic benefits transfer (EBT) solution. The contract runs from April 2003 through June 2004, with six one-year renewals. Estimated contract value over the seven years is $15.4 million, including start-up. A leader in EBT services, ACS will fulfill the contract with its Electronic Payment Processing and Information Control (EPPIC(TM)) system, a state-of-the-art software application written in JAVA. EPPIC offers the EBT marketplace unprecedented features, including a Web browser interface, on-line reporting features and Internet access for clients and retailers to review their accounts and transactions. Using EPPIC, ACS will design, implement, and operate the EBT system to process food stamp and Temporary Aid for Needy Families benefits. ACS will train recipients to use the EBT system, and recruit and train retailers in program participation. Other services provided under the contract include administrative staff training, client help line services, account settlement and network communications. Through its EPPIC solution, ACS is expanding its share in the growing $1 billion EBT market. States have implemented EBT, a debit-card system for food-stamp recipients, to comply with federal government requirements.
