Alien Technology RFID Products Selected For Joint Military Services End-to-End Supply Chain Deployment
Morgan Hill, CA - Alien Technology Corporation announced that the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) has selected Alien RFID products and services to supply the Alaska Center for Supply Chain Integration (ACSI) contract with the United States Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). The contract addresses support for the United States Department of Defense programs designed to help realize the benefits of RFID by leveraging the specific capabilities of the Alaska Center for Supply Chain Integration (ACSI) and Alien Technology Corporation.
This effort is focused on support to DLA, Military Service, and Combatant Command sites providing business process reengineering and technical services related to the analysis, design, implementation, and support of RFID-enabled supply chain management processes. Alien's ALR-9800 series of high performance, multi-protocol readers and dock door portals, combined with professional services delivered from Alien's RFID Solutions Center Dayton, will be deployed as a part of a UHF RFID solution that extends beyond receiving RFID-enabled products from DoD suppliers, to include automatic data capture and inventory control of product transport within defense depots, as well as tracking of outbound shipments. Initial deployment sites include the Defense Distribution Depot San Joaquin (DDJC), Travis Air Force Base, Elmendorf Air Force Base, and Fort Richardson Alaska.
"The University of Alaska Anchorage is excited to be working with Alien Technology Corporation in support of this effort," said Tom Case, Dean of the College of Business and Public Policy, University of Alaska Anchorage, and retired Deputy Commander-in-Chief and Chief of Staff for the United States Pacific Command. "This program leverages our logistics and global supply chain management programs which focus on managerial leadership, information technology and international business practices."
"We are pleased to be working with UAA, the Defense Logistics Agency, and the Department of Defense to provide RFID solutions designed to help deliver on the promise of RFID," said Susan Pearson, V.P. Alliances and Government Solutions, Alien Technology Corporation. "We are working with the initial deployments sites to integrate RFID into many aspects of DoD supply chain operations providing greater asset visibility."
