Amentra Awarded Enterprise Data Architecture Contract By The Department Of Transportation

RICHMOND, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Red Hat (NYSE: RHT), the world's leading provider of open source solutions, today announced that its consulting business Amentra, Inc., an industry leading business, and technology consulting firm, has been awarded a contract by the Department of Transportation.

Under the contract, Amentra will work with the Department of Transportation Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) to assist in the development and application of data management concepts and best practices to help PHMSA create an enterprise data architecture. This data architecture will be a layered set of components that will provide a solid information management foundation for the rest of PHMSA's technical architecture by defining how data is stored, managed and used. "We are pleased to have been selected to employ our enterprise data solution and technology consulting experience at PHMSA." said Jason Smith, Vice President of Operations, Amentra. "We believe that PHMSA is committed to evolving into a data-driven organization to help drive down its costs and increase its efficiency. The implementation of an enterprise data architecture initiative will allow PHMSA to achieve common governance, cross organizational data integration, and a common set of business measurements across their organization." Amentra will mentor PHMSA on the process for designing and developing an enterprise data architecture to enable integrated reporting and operational business intelligence. This effort aims to design a single, integrated, and commonly governed platform to foster more informed decision making across PHMSA. In choosing Amentra, PHMSA has furthered its commitment to enterprise data governance, data integration, and business intelligence initiatives and is taking a critical step forward to improve the quality and timeliness of information driven decisions within the Department of Transportation.
