San Jose, CA (PRWEB) - Axiad IDS, the leading provider of trusted identities for enterprise, government and financial organizations, is showcasing its innovative new solutions to help government contractors, quickly and cost-effectively comply with NIST Special Publication 800-171at SecureWorld 2016 next week in San Jose. Axiad IDS co-founder and co-CEO, Bassam Al-Khalidi will be a featured speaker on this topic, furthering the company’s mission to educate government contractors on how to manage the complexity of this mandate so that they can continue doing business with the Government. Axiad IDS’ complete identity and access management solution can be found in Booth 201.

“Many government contractors do not realize the clock is ticking and unless they are in compliance with NIST SP800-171 on December 31, 2017, they risk their government contracts,” said Mr. Al-Khalidi. “Axiad IDS is helping organizations manage the complexity of this mandate, specifically section 3.5 that demands multi-factor authentication.”

Whether an organization is working to prevent harmful security breaches or meet critical IT security mandates, deploying and operating a cohesive and integrated secure identities solution is complex. As a result, we are seeing a growing trend toward fully hosted service models. Axiad IDS’ fully hosted cloud offering enables quick compliance with even the most rigorous mandates while ensuring reliable and predictable cost containment.

Government mandates create additional complexity in the implementation and management of security solutions. In the case of NIST SP800-171, Axiad IDS’ expertise in implementing multi-factor authentication (MFA) solutions comes in — helping government contractors quickly and easily respond to the mandate. Powered by proven products from Axiad IDS’ market leading partners, the Axiad ID Cloud is designed to make it easier to cost-effectively deploy and manage comprehensive solutions while lowering risk and overall investment costs.

“We eliminate the potential for human error by automating the set-up, and as a result, we are able to get organizations compliant and operational in days versus months,” continued Mr. Al-Khalidi. “Taking security protection one step further, a Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) is dedicated to your organization’s data so there is no co-mingling of data.”

What is NIST Special Publication 800-171?
The need for strong security measures to protect sensitive government data from hackers has never been more intense. Just in the last two years, the federal government suffered at least four breaches of government information systems, including cyber-attacks on the U.S. Postal Service, NOAA, and the USIS. Some breaches have occurred because of vulnerabilities in contractors’ authentication systems.

To address this problem, the Department of Commerce National Institute of Standards and Technology has released a draft version of NIST Special Publication 800-171, Protecting Controlled Unclassified Information in Nonfederal Information Systems and Organizations. For contractors to governmental agencies, this means they must now implement security measures beyond passwords to support these government entities.

“The new realities of today’s global economy — digital, online, Cloud-based — have dramatically increased cybersecurity risks. Relying on passwords to authenticate users is no longer a viable approach to run a business. This challenge has to be addressed even if not driven by a mandate,” said Yves Audebert, co-founder and co-CEO, Axiad IDS. “Our goal is to help organizations address the various and specific Identity Assurance needs of their user population. We offer cost-efficient and flexible solutions that can be deployed both on premises or in a Virtual Private Cloud.”

Mr. Al-Khalidi will present on Thursday, October 27 at 11:15 a.m. during the “Using the NIST Cybersecurity Framework to Build a Mature Information Security Program” session. He will discuss how organizations - in particular contractors to the government - can quickly, easily and cost-effectively implement MFA solutions in compliance with NIST Special Publication 880-171. He will also be participating on the “Current Threatscape” panel at 1:15 p.m. on the same day.
