Barco Receives 30 Million Dollar Contract From Lockheed Martin Transportation & Security Solutions

Barco will participate in the upgrade of 20 FAA en-route centers

KORTRIJK, BELGIUM – Barco has received a 30 million dollar supply contract from Lockheed Martin Transportation & Security Solutions (LMTSS), Rockville, MD, USA, for the delivery of ISISTM 28-inch main displays, PVS6000/PVS6600 graphics cards and TELLARTM recording, archiving and playback software. Barco's visualization components will replace and upgrade the graphics capabilities of 20 Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Air Route Traffic Control Centers (ARTCC) in the United States, which represent more than 3000 data (DPOS) and radar (RPOS) positions. With this new contract, Barco further strengthens its position as the leading supplier of operational display components in the air traffic management market.

The new contract continues LMTSS's long-term relationship with Barco and encompasses deliveries to both the FAA D-Position Program and the En-Route Automation Modernization (ERAM) Program. In addition to LMTSS upgrading the current workstation computers, displays, and graphics subsystems, these programs will replace the current NAS (National Airspace System) software and add the capabilities needed to support Free Flight, Air Traffic Services needs and information security requirements. Barco will also provide TELLARTM software, which will allow the centers to continuously record the contents of all displays and archive this data for later analysis.

TELLARTM is Barco's turnkey stand-alone software solution for lossless recording, archiving and playback of full graphics display contents and operator actions. The software saves all display content and can later replay it. This includes legal recording, flight safety and event analysis, search and rescue, operator training and HMI evaluations. TELLARTM provides the means to synchronize with current voice recording systems.

The PVS6000 series, Barco's latest offering of PCI graphics cards, is designed to support both low-resolution, up to 1920 x 1280, and high-resolution displays up to 2048 x 2048, and drawing-intensive application software for operational display systems. The architecture provides dual analog or digital video outputs to reduce cost and provide flexibility. Barco X11R6 Xserver software guarantees optimal functionality and performance of these cards for both UNIX and MS Windows platforms as well as extensive diagnostics.

Barco's ISISTM flat-panel LCD display has become the world's leading square display for system integrators and air service providers both in new installations and as a direct replacement for the Sony DDM CRT display. LMTSS values Barco's ISISTM main display for its ease of integration, low lifetime maintenance costs, and high-quality 2048 x 2048 image.

Deliveries of Barco's visualization components for these programs will start this year with final shipments to be delivered in 2007. All components will be manufactured at Barco's facility in Duluth, GA (USA).
