CET Environmental Services, Inc. Awarded Construction Management Contract For Porta Bella Project; Project Involves Remediation and Civil Infrastructure Construction Of 996 Acres
The property was previously owned and operated by the Whittaker Corporation, a defense contractor that manufactured explosives, flares, and small munitions. The planned development includes 2,911 residential units, 96 acres for commercial, office, and business park uses, and approximately 400 acres of open space and parks.
CET and RFI have teamed together on two other redevelopment projects, including the 100-acre explosives manufacturing site in Hercules, California, and a 25-acre auto shredding facility in Chandler, Arizona. CET has been conducting environmental investigations at the Porta Bella site for the past 14 months. The Santa Clarita property's environmental conditions and associated costs have been extensively examined.
In addition, CET has formed an Engineering and Construction Division that will manage Brownfields redevelopment projects, including the Hercules project in Northern California and this contract. This division will place strong emphasis on project planning and project management systems, including project control and contracts administration. Several key people have been hired that managed billion-dollar capital projects and multimillion-dollar environmental projects for Atlantic Richfield Company and ARCO Environmental Remediation, LLC. The Engineering and Construction Division includes project management, project control, contracts and procurement, construction management, health and safety, as well as various support personnel.
CET conducts business in four primary areas: government programs, industrial services, water/wastewater treatment and its newly formed Engineering and Construction division. The Company provides a broad range of expertise in
technology-based environmental services for both the public and private sectors throughout the United States.
