COMET Software

COMET enables you to predict the way sound radiates inside and outside of a product, simultaneously or separately
COMET enables you to predict the way sound radiates inside and outside of a product, simultaneously or separately. By giving you a better understanding of the noise your products will make, COMET helps you refine your design - before investing in costly physical prototypes. COMET offers two key advantages over competing solutions: it's easier to use and it's supported by the engineers at AAC - known worldwide for acoustic expertise.
  • The Power to Solve Your Noise Problems
  • The Interface to Make Your Job Easier
  • The Expert Guidance in the Best Way to Solve Your Noise Problem
  • The Versatility to Move Across Computer Platforms
The Power to Solve Your Noise Problems

No other acoustic solution has the capabilities to solve your noise problems faster than COMET. The software is used for determining:

  • The acoustic normal modes of an interior space or cavity
  • The noise at discrete frequencies internally and/or externally of an object due to structural vibrations and pressure pulse excitations
  • The noise resulting from structural vibrations, while simultaneously calculating the response of the structure from acoustic excitations - a truly coupled solution
  • Acoustic responses in fluid, solid, and elastic porous (foam) media
  • Optimal designs of structural components for sound reduction
Other capabilities of COMET include:
  • Sensitivity analysis determines the relative affect on the acoustic response due to the surface vibrations of a component at discrete frequencies.
  • Panel contribution analysis predicts which components or areas have the greatest effect on noise levels.
  • Mean flow analysis considers the fluid velocity effects on acoustic response.
  • Near field acoustic holography analysis predicts the surface velocity distribution on a structural when the acoustic pressure field is already known.
  • Nonlinear matrix interpolation for multi-frequency analysis drastically reduces computer run times.
  • Reverberant field analysis predicts the structural response of components immersed in an environment of random acoustic vibrations.
  • Discontinuous impedance modeling allows for thin panels to have materials with different absorption characteristics on either side.
  • Multi-media acoustics analysis predicts the acoustic response throughout domains with varying acoustic properties.
  • Test correlation allow results from the lab to be combined with COMET results to obtain a complete and accurate representation of the sound field.
  • Sound field visualization of the following is possible using COMET/Vision as a post-processor
The latest version features two particularly important innovations:
  • SAFE (Structural Acoustic Foam Engineering) lets you analyze the process of structural acoustic energy transmission through foam. Until SAFE, no solution could model the physics of this entire process.
  • SAOpt (Structural Acoustic Optimization) lets you optimize the structure of a design and its acoustics - at the same time. No more tedious working iterating between structural and acoustic systems.
