Daewoo Heavy Industries America Corporation is headquartered in West Caldwell, NJ and maintain offices and technical service centers throughout North America. Its products are sold exclusively through a network of independent distributors located in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

On January 1, 1998, Daewoo Machinery Corporation merged with Daewoo Equipment Corporation to form a new $350 million dollar organization named Daewoo Heavy Industries America Corporation. This new company is responsible for North American sales, service, and technical support of all Daewoo machine tools, construction equipment, lift trucks, skid steer loaders and mini-excavators. Daewoo Heavy Industries America Corporation is a division of DAEWOO, one of the world's largest business groups ranked 24th in Fortunes' Global 500 with 1996 sales exceeding $65 billion.

Daewoo's Lift Truck Division initiated its North American operation in 1993, and developed an important presence with its families of lift trucks. The Lift Truck Division is a supplier of quality material handling equipment with over 220 dealer locations throughout North America. The Compact Equipment Division entered into the U.S. market in 1996 and is a supplier of quality skid steer loaders, and mini-excavators with over 185 dealer locations to date.
