In 1966, Victor Mosed and Carmen Beggs began repairing dictation machines. Their office was a closet-size room on Detroit's East Side. When a client would replace an old machine, the new company, Dictation Service, Inc., would re-condition and resell the older machine. In 1969, Dictation Service became a Sanyo dealer and began to take trade-ins on equipment. Their reputation grew and in 1979, Joseph Mosed, Sr. purchased the company and moved it to a location in Southfield, MI. on 10 Mile Road. Joseph renamed the company to Dictation Sales and Service, became a Sony and a Norelco Dealer, and purchased Dalton's Inc., another Detroit-owned sales and service center. In 1984, Dictation Sales and Service moved to its present location at 25657 Southfield Road in Southfield and became a Racal Dealer.
In 1996, Dictation Sales and Service, changing its focus to four primary areas: Service, Dictation Solutions, Telephone Recording/Quality Monitoring and Document Imaging Solutions, became DSS Corporation.
