FAA Reverses Decision - Announces Competitive Procurement

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has posted "Airport Surface Products Technical Assistance Contracts" on the FAA Contract Opportunities web site at http://www.asu.faa.gov/faaco/.

In March 2000, the FAA issued a public announcement to notify industry of its intention to make a contract award to Subsystem Technologies Inc. Since that announcement was made, FAA has determined that a competitive procurement is appropriate for the required technical support to various airport surface programs.

To provide the FAA the time necessary for a competitive solicitation, it is necessary to award a bridge contract to the incumbent vendor. This bridge will be for a 6-month period during which time the competitive procurement will take place for continued support to the airport surface programs. The anticipated period of performance for the competitive contract will be for one year to begin December 1, 2000 with options for up to three additional years. It is planned that a R.F.O. will be issued for this contract on or before 90 days of the May 22 posting date of the FAA announcement.
