AMSEC LLC maintains a substantial level of field engineering talent
AMSEC LLC maintains a substantial level of field engineering talent. Our technicians provide the Navy with technical assistance, equipment assessment, onboard operator and maintenance training and direct fleet support for maintenance, modernization and repair of a wide variety of shipboard components and systems. We support the Board of Inspection and Survey Underway Material Inspections (INSURV UMI), with Combat Systems Readiness Reviews, and fleet requested Direct Fleet Support (DFS).
Our diverse expertise in Field Engineering, lies with our Carrier Engineered Maintenance and Assessment Team (CEMAT), working for the Navy's Type Commanders, We provide:

  • Material condition discrepancy identification and correction, including "O" and "I" level work.
    Support in the implementation of the Carrier Availability Planning System (CAPS).
  • Technical assistance and training to ship's force for sheet metal, structural, welding, pipefitting, painting, sandblasting, machine shop services and electronic repair using light industrial facilities at Naval Air Station-
  • Norfolk and in Newport News, VA.
    Configuration and data management.
  • On-the-job training services in the following functional areas:
    • Logistics
    • Maintenance Training
    • System Assessment
    • Equipment Repair
    • Ship's Force Work Package Development
    • Overhaul Support
    • Technical Assistance
    • Data Analysis
    • Cableway Improvement Program (CIP)
    • Damage Control and Fire Fighting.

AMSEC LLC plays a key Fleet Maintenance role in the C4I arena. Our Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I) technicians conduct approximately 350 field service or technical assistance ship visits per year. We have corrected over 200 CASREPs and nearly 550 non-CASREP failures since August 1994.

AMSEC LLC also supports a variety of equipment calibration activities. We provide: teams for SURFLANT's Test Equipment Calibration Readiness Assessment (TECRA) Program. We continue to train and assist the deck plate sailor in the operation and maintenance of equipment in order for the Navy to maintain the highest possible state of fleet readiness.
