Franklin County Treasurer Installs Aperta's Remittance Processing Solution
Aperta, a leading provider of payment processing solutions, has installed its remittance processing software at the Franklin County Treasurer's office in Columbus, Ohio.
The Aperta VRPA+ solution was running live work approximately 60 days after the contract was signed.
Franklin County Treasurer utilizes the Aperta VRPA+ remittance processing solution to process high volumes of real estate tax payments, personal property tax payments, manufactured home tax payments and treasurer payments.
Franklin County Treasurer is using 2 Burroughs SmartSource remittance and check scanners to process the mail in payments, and another 2 SmartSource units to process the over the counter payments their cashiers' receive.

After the work is captured, an image cash letter is exported to the Treasurer's bank and the data and images are exported to Aperta's Visual Image Archive solution to be used for research purposes. Data is also exported to 3 separate host systems.
"To provide greater accuracy in reading scanlines Aperta utilized OCR software to read our scanlines, which can vary in height and position. Aperta also uses image quality software and duplicate detection software to ensure both duplicate items and files are not sent to our bank twice also ensuring quality images are exported," said Grimes.
