GSA announces several actions on the FAR
The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), in a September 11 memo to senior procurement officials, announced that it will no longer seek publication of a paper copy of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR). As of January 1, 2001, GSA will instead publish the FAR at http://www.arnet.gov/far/.
The FAR will be made available in HTML and PDF formats. In addition, the FAR web site provides electronic copies of Federal Acquisition Circulars (FACs). GSA will continue to provide these materials even after it has stopped paper publication of the FAR.
Any questions on this subject are to be directed to Rodney P. Lanier, Director, Executive Secretariat at 202-501-2647.
Two rules proposed
Two proposed rules also were announced and are now available for download at http://www.arnet.gov/far. The two proposals are:
- FAR Case 1999-616, Revisions to Balance of Payments Program; and
- FAR Case 2000-401, Definitions for Applied Research and Development.
Comments on these proposed rules are due on November 12.
