M&E's Moody wins Frances Perkins Vanguard Award
Mr. Richard D. Moody of Metcalf & Eddy, Inc., Wakefield, Massachusetts, has received the Frances Perkins Vanguard Award for Excellence. This is a National Federal award presented each year to a federal agency, a prime contractor, and an industry official recognized for their excellence in utilizing Women-Owned Small Businesses in their work. Named after Frances Perkins, the first woman to hold a Cabinet-level position as Secretary of Labor under Franklin D. Roosevelt, the award is presented to those who exhibit strong action and results in Leadership, Advocacy, Innovation, and Implementation in their work.
Mr. Moody was chosen to receive this prestigious award in the Industrial Official category for the year 2000. His superior efforts in using Women-Owned Small Businesses has been judged to be the best of all companies in the U.S. Small Business Administration's (SBA) portfolio of over 2,500 large contractors. His interaction with government agencies, the recommendations of Women-Owned Small Businesses that work with Mr. Moody, and the results of utilizing these small business firms which nearly tripled the goal set by the U.S. Government were critical factors in selecting Mr. Moody for this award.
His outstanding contributions as Contracts/Procurement Manager and Small Business Liaison Officer for Metcalf & Eddy, Inc. establishes him as a national leader in executing the goals and objectives of the SBA and Federal Small Business programs. The accomplishments of Mr. Moody reflect great credit upon himself, Metcalf & Eddy, the Small Business Administration, and the United States Government.
The award was presented at a luncheon on June 13, 2000 at the 33rd Annual Joint Industry/SBA Procurement Conference held at the Renaissance Hotel in Washington, D.C.
