Poulsbo, WA (Vocus/PRWEB ) -- Paladin Data Systems Corporation recently extended their contract with the Department of Defense (DoD) to include enhancements to Paladin's ASM, Advanced Skills Management system for the US Marine Corps. The Marine Corps Extension (MCE) project will provide new functionality to support multiple US Marine Corps communities.
Paladin has been working with the military for over 10 years on the Advanced Skills Management (ASM) system that has assisted in the qualification of over 60,000 personnel by managing maintenance training records and standardizing processes. ASM tracks a person's career development syllabi, training, certifications, licenses, qualifications, skills, etc. from entry into the military to retirement or discharge. Information from ASM is used by supervisors and managers to asses individual and unit readiness. The success of the program has created demand from other military units for the system and Paladin recognized the system had wide reaching uses for training and development of military personnel.
ASM version 3 launched in June of 2009 for use by the US Navy and Marine Corps. This contract and extension of the Advanced Skill Management system is a testament to the value of the system for the DoD. "To have another military community desiring to use our product so quickly after the Navy put it in place highlights the effectiveness of this tool for development of our armed forces," stated Juan Haley, ASM product manager.
The MCE functionality will be in use by fall of 2010 and will contain several enhancements and custom configurations creating flexibility in the program to meet the needs of the Marine Corps. Specifically the changes to ASM will allow the Marine Corp to:
- Develop training from a "Skill Catalog" where skills have been pre-assigned with certain tasks to maintain consistency, but also have the flexibility to add or subtract tasks based on the unique needs of the training requirement.
- Interface with MACCRAT, which is currently being used by the Marine Corps to assess readiness associated with a squadron. ASM is the system of record for organizational readiness in the Marine Corps and will feed information to MACCRAT.
- Support the Marine Corps Aircraft Maintenance Training and Readiness Program by providing the functionality to support the Training and Readiness (T&R) syllabi.
Additional customization of the system includes functionality to support the DoD Cryptographic Log-on (CLO). CLO is a process which authenticates a user's credentials therefore eliminating the need for a username and password when logging into ASM.
"Paladin is excited and honored to have the opportunity to support the Marine Corps by enhancing ASM to assist in their mission of deploying the best skilled forces in the world," stated Dan Burton, Paladin's Chief Operating Officer. "ASM improves the capability of our deployed forces and helps to manage the readiness of military personnel. The ASM extension directly benefits the Marine Corps and provides new system capabilities available for deployment to other branches of the military."
ASM has proven, and continues to prove, its ability to provide a flexible framework which can be molded to fit many human capital development processes, including the capability of supporting all of the DoD's needs in managing human capital development.
