Prioritizing Sailor And Marine Welfare: Navy Awards CFPS $52M Contract For Traffic And Recreational Off-Duty Safety

MANASSAS, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cape Fox Professional Services (CFPS) has been awarded a five year, $52M contract to provide overall program management support for the Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC HQ) and the Commandant of the Marine Corps (CMC) worldwide Traffic Safety and Recreational Off-Duty Safety Program (TS/RODS). The five year award will provide significant enhancements to the existing RODS program to include hands-on classroom instruction in motorcycle and traffic safety training along with the integration of high-tech vehicle simulators, behavioral modification, and motivational seminars.

"CFPS is very excited to be awarded this opportunity to work so closely with the Navy's and Marine's safety professionals. Our role will extend well beyond local training to encompass a full partnership with the program offices at CNIC and CMC. In collaborating with the Army's Installation Command (IMCOM) in support of its Army Traffic Safety Training Program (ATSTP), CFPS has already proven its ability to efficiently and effectively run a traffic and motorcycle training program. To date, over 300,000 individuals have benefited from the ATSTP. To help reduce accidental fatalities and keep our war-fighters safe, CFPS will leverage its past performance and share its best practices to ensure success on this joint safety venture for the Navy and Marine Corps," explained Joe Sette, Vice President of Training and Safety for CFPS.

The TS/RODS program is a worldwide, comprehensive training program designed to sustain and preserve the well-being of today's sailors and marines across all Navy and Marine Corps installations. Its goal is to significantly reduce deaths and injuries as a result of traffic and recreational accidents. The program has the potential to train thousands of service members during the first full year of operation. Training priorities will remain flexible to allow Commanders to allocate assets to meet their individual needs.

CFPS will centrally coordinate, manage, and implement the TS/RODS Program at the regional level. Additionally, it will provide professionally trained and qualified instructors who will combine classroom instruction with hands on instruction for safe operation of all privately owned and recreational vehicles. The curriculum will include comprehensive training in basic, advanced, and sport bike motorcycle safety, basic and advanced off-road vehicle safety, and traffic safety. Further, to provide a more realistic driving experience and to help ensure all soldiers have the necessary skills for effectively and safely operating a vehicle and motorcycle, CFPS will integrate the most progressive motorcycle and personal vehicle simulators into its training program.

CFPS is scheduled to deploy more than 80 trainers to select Navy and Marine Corps installations worldwide including major hubs in California, North Carolina, and Virginia, as well as at various overseas locations in Spain, Italy, Bahrain, Japan, Singapore, Guam, and Korea.
