RAE Systems Wins Israeli Air Force Contract For Wingtank Entry Kits

San Jose, CA - RAE Systems Inc. , a developer and manufacturer of rapidly deployable, multi-sensor chemical and radiation detection monitors and networks for homeland security and industrial applications, announced that it has won the contract to supply the Israeli Air Force (IAF) with MultiRAE Wingtank Entry Kits.

RAE Systems' MultiRAE Plus Wingtank Entry Kit is customized specifically for keeping service technicians and mechanics safe when entering and servicing instrumentation and armaments in and around aircraft wingtanks. Jet fuel contains both toxins and known carcinogens. The MultiRAE Plus alarms, gas measurement scales and calibration gases are specifically tailored for use in environments containing jet fuel vapors. The Wingtank Entry Kit uses the MultiRAE Plus equipped with a PID (Photoionization Detector) in addition to a traditional LEL (Lower Explosive Limit) sensor for measuring jet fuel vapors, hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and oxygen (O2) sensors for service technician safety. The Wingtank Entry Kit's PID technology is a superior solution for sensing the potentially explosive jet fuel environment because the PID's sensitivity makes it less prone to false alarms. The units were also supplied with real-time sensor reading storage or data logging.

The Israeli Air Force tested instruments from six manufacturers using certified gas (jet fuel vapor) standards. Tested units included models that were equipped with a PID as well as some with LEL sensors only. The MultiRAE Plus was the only instrument that met the IAF requirement for detecting jet fuel at Industrial Hygiene and Explosive (LEL) levels. Time response/time to clear and repeatability were also prime selection criteria. Also taken into account were the ruggedness of the instrument and the ability of RAE Systems' local distributor, Emproco Ltd., to provide full documentation and training in Hebrew and their certification to provide ISO 9001 level service.
