SAIC Awarded $18M Contract By Space And Naval Warfare Systems Command
Company to Help Modernize U.S. Navy Fleet Submarine Broadcast System, hardware
San Diego And Mclean, VA/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI ) today announced it has been awarded a prime contract by the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) to develop and deliver Low Band Universal Communications System (LBUCS) transmit terminal equipment (TTE) for the U.S. Navy's Program Executive Office of Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence. The contract has a two-year base period of performance, with additional options through 2014, and a total value of more than $18 million if all options are exercised. Work will be performed primarily in San Diego, Calif.
The LBUCS Program will help the U.S. Navy modernize current Fleet Submarine Broadcast System (FSBS) components, many of which are approaching end of service life, or are scheduled for upgrade. These upgrades include replacing current hardware; the reuse and porting of existing FSBS software; and the development of new software as required. Under the task order, SAIC will design and deliver the updated systems, including two engineering design models of the broadcast transmit and keying sites. SAIC will also provide program management, systems engineering, test and evaluation, and integrated logistics support as needed.
