The Performance Tuning Suite is designed to provide information needed by technical department to detect potential performance problems before they occur. It is meant to recreate the typical day of any given server — whether a web server, database server, PC, RS/6000, or sun.

The software runs on standard PCs that can be clustered together to supply many thousands of synchronized virtual users (up to 64000) who are running client traffic onto their server. The controller program oversees the setup and running of predefined tests on the driver PCs. The driver program currently runs up to two hundred virtual users in up to four instances giving eight hundred V-users per PC in one of the normal run modes and double the capacity in stress mode.

The controller package can run and watch many simultaneous tests - each to a different server. The software is suitable for testers with requirements ranging from modest to full-blown test labs.

The software comprising the suite runs under IBM's OS/2 operating system. In addition, the manufacturer now has a Linux version of the software available. A demo of this version can be downloaded from their Website.
