SPADAC Awarded Contract By Office Of Naval Research To Determine Relevance Of Cultural Factors

MCLEAN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SPADAC, a leading provider of spatially-enhanced technology solutions, has been awarded a contract by the Office of Naval Research (ONR) to support its Large Tactical Sensor Networks II program through the development of a system to determine the relevance of cultural factors which will provide advanced intelligence capabilities in support of the warfighter.

SPADAC, which has supported ONR as well as various Department of Defense organizations for more than six years, will provide research and development, and software engineering expertise. The contract, potentially valued at up to $1.2 million, covers a base Phase 1 period plus optional continuation of the effort based on initial results.

"SPADAC is extremely pleased to have been selected by ONR to support their critical intelligence systems needs," said Mark Dumas, founder and CEO of SPADAC. "By fusing data from multiple sources and leveraging existing technologies such as SPADAC's predictive analytics technology, Signature Analyst®, we look forward to developing a highly integrated intelligence system that is both efficient and delivers the highest quality results possible to support ONR's mission."

Under the contract, SPADAC will conduct research and development of a system to provide a valuable analytic component that accounts for the importance of cultural and organizational factors. The system will integrate cultural data with existing geospatial and temporal analysis algorithms, while simultaneously allowing human terrain analysts to form hypotheses about the structure and intent of organizations.

Once developed, the cultural factors relevance system will also allow for the fusion of data from many sources and provide an efficient, integrated tool set for improving the ability to create actionable intelligence at the strategic and tactical levels.

Tasks to be addressed under the contract include:

  • meshing cultural intelligence data with geospatial factors;
  • establishing a capability to analyze cultural data with SPADAC's existing geospatial assessment tool, Signature Analyst; and
  • providing the ability to characterize cultural data as to whether it acts as an attractor, repellor or is neutral given various analytical hypotheses.

More than a dozen federal customers throughout intelligence and military sectors have been supported by SPADAC and its Signature Analyst technology since 2002. The company's unique approach ensures that expert analysts, proven methods and innovative technology come together to minimize risk, maximize opportunities and significantly increase the likelihood of business success for its diverse client base.
