SYS Technologies Announces Task Order Award for Heavy UNREP System

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 3, 2003--SYS Technologies (OTCBB:SYYS) has been awarded a $1.6M Task Order for development of a heavy Underway Replenishment (UNREP) system for the U.S. Navy. SYS Technologies will provide the engineering, design and drafting support required to develop a heavy UNREP system capable of transferring larger loads more frequently and at greater ship separation, which improves safety. This Task Order is the first significant tasking received under the new Heavy UNREP Contract, awarded by the Port Hueneme Division of the Naval Surface Warfare Center on Sept. 15, 2002. UNREP is a method of transferring fuel, potable water, munitions, provisions and spare parts from one vessel to another while the ships are underway. The new heavy UNREP system will provide greater transfer capability, improve the ability of conning officers to maintain station keeping during transfer and increase safety by decreasing the risk of collision during high sea states. Chuck Vandeveer, senior vice president enterprise solutions division at SYS Technologies, stated, "This is the first significant funding received for the new Heavy UNREP Program, which has received the green light and financial support from the Pentagon to develop the next generation of UNREP equipment to serve the Fleet in the 21st Century. SYS Technologies is very happy to be a part of this effort as the Prime Contractor." SYS Technologies has provided engineering, technical, financial and management services to commercial and U.S. government customers since 1966. It currently has several multiple-year management and engineering service contracts with the U.S. Navy and General Services Administration at various locations across the country. The company is publicly traded (OTCBB:SYYS).
