The main distinction between the conventional MASTECH TMS systems and the MASTECH TMS OLE Server is not how the applications function (they are both MASTECH TMS) but in what the user sees. With a conventional MASTECH TMS system, shippers or Net Query users view an MASTECH TMS shipping screen to rate packages, submit ship requests, query status, etc. This requires learning MASTECH TMS-specific menus and keystrokes, which may differ from your global, corporate program. In contrast, the MASTECH TMS OLE Server allows the MASTECH TMS subsystems to run in the background, invisible to the user, while your container application runs in the foreground. As a result, users work from their familiar menus and keystrokes of the corporate container application, reducing your company's training investment and streamlining your company's efficient use of MASTECH TMS. Your developers also have the ability to customize your company departmental modules by limiting system access on a per-department basis. For example, Customer Service may only need the ability to access shipping history and tracking details, whereas, Order Entry may require the ability to rate shop and submit ship requests. You can define what commands and functions are available, what access limitations departments have. You can also provide everyone with identical capabilities, at your discretion.
