<%=company1%> (UNITECH), a leader in information technology and intelligent training systems, announced today it has been awarded a $2.5 million government contract by the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Indianhead, Md.

Under the one-year contract, UNITECH will update a visual database system, and conduct integration and testing of an S-3 flight simulator.

"We're excited to be part of the Navy's efforts to modernize their aircraft trainers," said Earl W. Stafford, President and CEO of UNITECH. "This new state-of-the-art technology will better prepare the Navy S-3 fliers to protect our nation during wartime and keep it safe during peacetime."

Under the contract, UNITECH will install a new visual system on the S-3 aircraft simulator, designed to help train pilots on a variety of maneuvers. They will train for all basic field flight operations, such as taxing, take-offs, emergency procedures and instrument and visual procedures.

"This upgrade will enhance the ability of pilots to practice all shipboard operations," said Stafford. In effect, this will permit pilots, for example, to practice catapult launches, tactical operations and arrested and barricade landings.

UNITECH, which is partnering with Evans & Sutherland of Salt Lake City, Utah, will deliver projectors, a display system and an image generator as part of the hardware for the new visual system.

UNITECH is a rapidly growing information technology company based in Fairfax, Va., with satellite operations directed from Washington, D.C., Norfolk, Va., Des Moines, Iowa, Albuquerque, N.M., and Orlando, Fla.

Since Stafford started it in 1988, UNITECH has experienced tremendous growth. In 1999, UNITECH's revenues reached $40 million, a 35 percent increase from 1998. This year, the company estimates that revenues will rise to $60 million.
