XeDAR Corporation Wins State Department Contract For GSA SmartBUY Electronic Records Management Project

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--XeDAR Corporation (OTCBB: XDRC), a provider of homeland security and defense consulting and IT security services to our national intelligence agencies and the Departments of Defense, Homeland Security and others, announced today that its Point One subsidiary has been awarded a GSA SmartBUY contract from the Department of State's United Nations Research Unit. Point One shall assist in the Phase One implementation of a multi-phase effort to create a secure, comprehensive electronic document and records management (EDRM) system. That work is expected to be completed within six months.

Phase One of this new, secure records management system begins the automation of the United States Mission to the United Nations (U.S.U.N.) records by digitizing and indexing the Research Unit records from 1994 to present, with the long-term project goal being to incorporate archival records from 1949 into the records management system. The remaining two phases of the project will complete archival automation and will address expanded access to the archives database, allowing users beyond the UN Research Unit the capability to retrieve, file, and retire files electronically. Secure, electronic access to this data translates to immediate and significant savings in labor and storage costs.

"This GSA SmartBUY contract is an explicit recognition of two national priorities: one, that homeland security depends more than ever on sharing critical information between agencies in a system as secure and threat-proof as possible; and two, that accessible electronic data makes government more efficient and knowledgeable in its communications, decision-making and security responsibilities—all the while saving taxpayer dollars," said Dale Smith, Director of Point One. "The EDRM software provided by XeDAR that the federal government has contracted with its subsidiary Point One to purchase under the SmartBUY program, means that XeDAR stands as the sole-source provider of EDRM software for the U.S. government for a five-year period, a clear recognition of its superior functionality, capability, and reliability."

Smith added that "the U.S.U.N. contract to implement secure records automation will facilitate better inter-agency communication and more productive, secure collaboration and could signal the initiation of the federal mandate that all federal agencies install EDRM software—absolutely essential to our homeland cyber security and potentially a tremendous opportunity for XeDAR in the near future.

"We enjoy an obvious competitive advantage, and the potential revenue opportunity is huge," said Smith.
