YRCI Cited For Small Business Achievement By DHS

Centreville, VA - YRCI, a metro-DC HR outsourcing and contracts management firm, was one of 16 small businesses to receive a Small Business Achievement Award from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) at the department's first small business award ceremony on April 18, 2005.

"The role of small business is tremendously important to the work we do as a department," said Greg Rothwell, chief procurement officer for the DHS, who presented the award along with the DHS's undersecretary for management, Janet Hale. "It is critical that we continue to improve our partnership with the small business community."

YRCI was recognized for exceptional performance in supporting the DHS Headquarters through its staffing, recruitment and human resources services contract. Since 2003, YRCI has been providing DHS Headquarters with outsourced human resources services including recruitment and staffing, position management and classification, payroll and personnel action processing, management advisory and other HR functions.

In fiscal year 2004, there were $4.5 billion in contracts awarded by DHS; more than 37 percent of those contracts were awarded to approximately 3,600 small businesses, based on reporting figures from the Small Business Administration and DHS.

"It's a tremendous honor to be nominated out of hundreds of small businesses for this prestigious first-time award from our client, the Department of Homeland Security Headquarters," said John Jaeger, president and CEO of YRCI. "YRCI's mission is to consistently provide exceptional employees who exceed expectations, and this DHS award reinforces our core commitment to superior customer service and client satisfaction."

About DHS
The National Strategy for Homeland Security and the Homeland Security Act of 2002 served to mobilize and organize the United States to secure the homeland from terrorist attacks. A primary reason for the establishment of the Department of Homeland Security (www.dhs.gov) was to provide the unifying core for the vast national network of organizations and institutions involved in efforts to secure the nation. To accomplish this mission and to provide guidance to more than 180,000 DHS employees, the Department developed its own high-level strategic plan to provide the framework guiding the actions that make up the daily operations of DHS.
